Brandberg is a small, sunny village in the Zillertal Valley surrounded by the Zillertal Alps Nature Park.
Brandberg is the perfect place to escape the stress of daily life and get back to nature. Here at 1,082 metres above sea level just 370 inhabitants enjoy an idyllic position in one of the sunniest parts of the Zillertal Valley. For many centuries the landscape has played a major role in the lives of the locals, who today continue to maintain and preserve it. Signs of just how hard life used to be in the valley can still be seen today. For example, many of the meadows are so steep that the long grass must still be cut by hand using a scythe – rewarding but back-breaking work. Visitors, on the other hand, will find plenty of walks and hikes to suit all ages and fitness levels, from gentle strolls through the pastures to challenging summit ascents. All in all there are 85 kilometres of hiking trails around Brandberg in the Zillertal Alps Nature Park, while in winter the famous ski resort of Mayrhofen is just a few minutes away.
