In the heart of the “Zwischentoren” – the valley connecting the town of Reutte in the Lechtal Valley to the Ehrwalder Becken – lies the small holiday village of Bichlbach at an altitude of 1,079m.
This municipality with a rich mining tradition is today home to 730 residents and has managed to avoid the trappings of mass tourism, instead maintaining its original charm with a number of richly decorated houses in the picturesque village centre. Bichlbach forms part of the Zugspitz Arena holiday region and is ideal for families and fans of outdoor sports thanks to its location between the majestic Lechtal Alps and Ammergau Alps. As well as exploring the hiking paths, mountain bike routes and cross-country skiing trails, visitors with a passion for sports will enjoy the Sport- und Freizeitpark Bichlbach. This outdoor adventure area has plenty to see and do for guests of all ages, including a children’s quadbike course, a beach volleyball court, a swimming lake, a minigolf course and a high rope climbing course with a giant swing. It has recently added a whitewater rafting facility designed for children. Skiers and snowboarders can explore the Bichlbach/Berwang resort with its wide range of slopes. Another must-see attraction is the beautiful Lake Heiterwanger See.
