With more than 2,000 hours of sunshine a year, the village of Amlach near Lienz is a popular destination among visitors to East Tirol.
Home to just 500 people, the village of Amlach is small but nevertheless has plenty to offer both locals and visitors. It is just a few kilometres from Lienz, the largest town in East Tirol, where highlights include the Schloss Bruck castle and a wide range of events going on throughout the year. At the same time, Amlach is far enough away from Lienz to offer total peace and quiet. Well worth a visit is the crystal-clear Tristacher See lake, the only natural swimming lake in East Tirol. The 366km Drau Cycle Path is a great way to explore the region on two wheels.
