High in the Pustertal Valley lies the small village of Abfaltersbach. With ist 650 inhabitants, it is the second smallest municipality in East Tirol after Untertilliach.
Abfaltersbach is located between the villages of Anras and Strassen in East Tirol. One of its most interesting sights is the Aigner Badl, the only remaining "Bauernbad" in East Tirol dating back to 1772. For almost 250 years locals have been coming here to bathe in larchwood tubs filled with 38°C water taken from a natural spring. It is said that the water helps soothe painful joints and speeds up the healing of wounds. Nature lovers will find plenty to see and do in the area around Abfaltersbach, including many hikes in the Villgraten Mountains and the Lienz Dolomites. The Drau Cycle Path leads through Abfaltersbach and invites visitors to explore the surrounding region on two wheels.
