Trail condition

Forest path, hiking trail, asphalt, sure-footedness and a head for heights are required.

Equipment

Sturdy boots (ankle-high hiking boots), weather appropriate clothing, enough to drink and eat. Sun and rain protection, telescopic hiking poles and a first aid kit are recommended.

Description


The second stage of the Karwendel circular hike can be completed on two alternative routes, both lead to the magnificent Sonnjoch - at 2,457 metres the highest peak in the Achensee region. From there, you can either walk to the Lamsenjochhütte at an elevation of 1,953 metres or return to the Karwendel cable car in Pertisau.

  • Arrival by public transport

    By regional bus (line 8332 or 390) to the toll station at the entrance to the Karwendel valleys in Pertisau (exit bus stop: Pertisau Karwendeltäler), change to the vintage bus to the Gramai Alm (in operation from mid-May 2025). View timetable and contact.
