Innradweg Bicycle Track Stage 4: Innsbruck - Strass im Zillertal

Description

Distance: 52 kilometres
Travel time: 3 hours

From the provincial capital Innsbruck the route takes you to the city of Hall. In the 15th century Archduke Sigmund of Tyrol moved the princely coinage of Merano here. A short time later, the first high-quality silver coin with the dollar mint was struck here. Today Hall inspires with an enchanting old town, the largest in Tyrol. Wattens with the Swarovski Crystal Worlds attracts hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world to Tyrol every year. Medieval flair awaits you in the silver town of Schwaz, which has lovingly and magnificently preserved many buildings from the heyday of silver mining. The Schwaz silver mine was one of the most productive in the Middle Ages and is now open to visitors. A little further along, trains with three different gauges meet at Jenbach station, including the famous Achensee Railway, Europe's oldest steam rack railway still in operation.
