From Stans to Tratzberg Castle

A leisurely hike to a particularly imposing castle at the foot of the Karwendel Mountains.

Description

The starting point in Stans is the car park at the Laurentius church (old parish church). From the car park the path is well signposted. For a short distance it leads north on an asphalt road through the settlement to the edge of the forest. The largest part of the path then runs through beautiful mixed forest.

After about one hour you reach the castle Tratzberg. Those interested can also take a look at the former hunting lodge of Maximilian from the inside. There is even a special guided tour for children. Below the castle, the castle inn invites you to take a break. The children have fun there at the playground and will certainly take a ride on the castle train.
Back to Stans, take the access road down from the castle, past the castle inn and car park, to the country road. Turn right and follow the road to the first turning on the left, which takes you across beautiful fields. After the Stutenhof, turn right and follow the Tratzberger Au, surrounded by flowering meadows and an avenue of trees. Once you arrive in the lower village of Stans, follow the first road northwest to the starting point. There are also some places to stop for refreshments in the inns in Stans: Brandstetterhof Country Inn, Marschall Country Inn or Steiner Restaurant.
