You wouldn't notice it at first glance because only around one square kilometre of the entire area is built on. But with 466.97 square kilometres - spread over glaciers and other mountains, forests and alpine pastures - Sölden is Austria's largest in terms of area. There are around 3,300 locals, 15,000 guest beds and two million overnight stays per year. The village, until a few decades ago a secluded mountain farming village, has a lot of experience in offering holiday guests what they want and need: plenty of snow, majestic mountain panoramas including three thousand metre peaks, more lifts and, above all, more kilometres of pistes than even ambitious skiers can ski in a week's winter holiday. And, of course, plenty of entertainment away from purely sporting challenges.
