10 places in Tyrol that you absolutely must visit in 2025

At the turn of the year, we once again asked our blog team about their personal favourite places in Tyrol. We have summarised the places you absolutely must visit in 2025 for you in this article.

1. makes a lasting impression: the ScheetalALM

The SchneetalALM is nestled in the mountains of the Tannheimer Tal with a unique view of Lake Haldensee. Named Alpine hut of the year by Gault Millau in 2024, the SchneetalALM offers one thing above all: regional, freshly prepared Alpine cuisine without convenience products and flavour enhancers.

The 500 metres in altitude to the alpine pasture can be covered from Nesselwängle in around 1h 45 min or with cable car support from the Bergwelt Hahnenkamm mountain station in around 40 min. Every step is worthwhile, not only because of the culinary highlights, but also because of the 200 or so alpine animals that can be found around the SchneetalALM. Rare breeds of domestic animals such as Welsh black-necked goats, Swedish flower-fowl and Scottish Highland cattle can be found there.

Gourmet evenings and alpine breakfasts are organised several times during the season. It pays to be quick, as the dates are quickly booked up. If you can't get enough, you can also stay overnight at the SchneetalALM.

My personal tip: try the incredibly tasty Kaiserschmarrn.

2. climbing in the Ehnbachklamm gorge: an idyllic playground for adults

There's something about gorges and ravines for me... If there's also a climbing area there, it makes my climbing heart leap even higher. The first time I hiked through the Ehnbachklamm gorge near Zirl, I realised that it wouldn't be the last time! I was so overwhelmed by the crystal-clear masses of water and the water-sculpted rocks. And then you're supposed to be able to climb here too? The anticipation was great! And my expectations were exceeded by far. You can choose between climbing routes in the shade ("Zeckenwandl" sector) or in the sun ("Äußere Platten", "Gotenturm" or "Buchenwandl" sectors). For those who like it higher, there is also the "Jungmannschaftswand" for multi-pitch routes (route recommendation: "Chefouvreur").

Despite a slightly longer approach (okay, let's be honest... people who sport climb simply don't like approaches), I recommend the climbing sector behind the dam wall at the end of the gorge. Because if the water conditions allow, you can sit down in the refreshingly cold water here in warm temperatures after a strenuous climb. Sometimes the water is only enough to refresh your feet - but hey, better than nothing, right? For climbing breaks, there are also nice places to lie down and relax. Because this small but beautiful climbing area certainly invites you to do just that!

3rd Lakes Tour through Tyrol

Children are lucky when they wish for a stand-up paddle for their birthday. It's even luckier if you take them on a lake tour through Tyrol. At least that's what we think, and we used the summer to cross all the lakes in this country standing up. We more than welcomed the fact that daring jumps from small rocks on the shore (Hechtsee, Reintaler See, Hintersteiner See), the odd round on a wakeboard (Walchsee), the exploration of a small island (Reintaler See), water castles (Natterer See, Walchsee), a swinging session in the wide waves of a steamboat (Achensee) and lots of time together awaited us. And the lakes we didn't manage to visit this year, we will definitely visit next summer. An absolute recommendation!

4th candlelight dinner at 2,058 metres

A special experience awaits visitors in St. Anton am Arlberg: the night-time gondola ride on the Galzigbahn offers a spectacular panoramic view of the wintry mountains and is the perfect start to an unforgettable evening. In the Verwallstube, award-winning chef Matthias Weinhuber spoils his guests with culinary masterpieces, accompanied by candlelight and atmospheric live piano music. This unique combination of indulgence and atmosphere makes the Verwallstube one of the magical favourite places in Tyrol. The return journey to the valley on the Galzigbahn cable car rounds off the experience in an atmospheric way.

5th autumn delights at the Biohotel Stillebach in Pitztal

The Pitztal must be visited once a year in autumn! The larches shine particularly brightly there. The mountains are particularly quiet and wild there. The air is particularly fresh and clear. And somehow the narrowness of the valley also suits the season. I love the moment when you emerge from the shade into the sun for the first time on a mountain tour. Then you greet it with particular euphoria and are happy that it's there. There are plenty of places to soak up the sun. My favourite places: Tiefentalalm - Kreuzjoch - Rappenkopf - Seirlöcherkogl; the Luibisböden; the Ludwigsburger Hütte, the Lehner Joch and the Schafhimmel. As a base camp for an autumn break, I recommend the Biohotel Stillebach: down-to-earth, rather small, personal, a great reading room and a sauna with a view of the glaciated valley head. Everything you could wish for in October or November.

6th Mieminger Plateau pleasure route: pure sunshine and favourite ice cream

I prefer to buy my food directly from the farms where it is produced. On the Mieminger Plateau, you can combine grocery shopping with a great walk in the (winter) sun. There are 11 such farm shops along the Genussroute, so you can get everything you need along the route. There is no better way to shop locally and seasonally. What should never be missing on the route? A homemade ice cream from Hansl's farm shop (Wildermieming / Unterfeld). Okay, I admit, I usually have at least two....
