Camping Aufenfeld near the village of Aschau in the Zillertal Valley has lots going on, thanks in no small part to the action and adventure resort next door. The site itself has pitches in four categories, from Standard to Luxury, with a number even having their own shower and toilet. The communal showers and toilets are spacirous and clean, with extra features such as bathtubs. When it comes to activities, campers are spoilt for choice. There is a tennis court, an indoor pool with a slide, a gym, a sauna and an indoor play area. Next door at the action and adventure resort there is a swimming lake with a waterfall, a rollerskating course, a trampoline area, beach volleyball courts and pedal-power go-karts. There are also a number of holiday apartments and suites for those who want to treat themselvs to a little extra luxury on holiday.

The Natürlich Hell Camping resort takes its name from the Hell family, who have run this successful site for many years. Located in the village of Fügen in the Zillertal Valley, it offers guets a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience with extras on offer such as private bathrooms in the refurbished shower and toilet block as well as free access to the indoor and outdoor pools and a TV connection and wireless internet. Situated at the foot of the Hohe Salve mountain (1,828 metres), this campsite in Itter is the perfect base for visitors who enjoy outdoor activites. In winter it is just a stone's throw from the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, one of the largest ski resorts in Austria, while in summer there is lots of great hiking and mountain biking in the Kitzbühel Alps and the Wilder Kaiser Mountains. The campsite itself has modern facilities, a heated swimming pool, a children's pool and a sunbathing lawn. In winter guests will appreciate the spa area with a steam room, infrared cabin, sunbed and Finnish sauna.

Wilder Kaiser Euro Camp is the perfect base for exploring the Kaiserwinkl area of Tirol. Camping Seeblick Toni was ranked one of the top three Super Campsites in 2013 by the German motoring club ADAC. This five-star-rated facility lies on the shores of the beautiful Reintalersee lake near Kramsach, embedded between the jagged Rofan Mountains and gorgeous woodlands. There is a beach with a sunbathing lawn as well as a spa complete with sauna, steam room, whirlpool, fitness room and tanning beds. The restaurant on premises serves local specialties, prepared with fresh produce from own farming. The campsite even has its own schnapps distillery. Accommodation options include tent pitches, campervan/RV sites and apartments.

Camping Ötztal in Längenfeld is the ideal campsite for relaxation and action. It is located next to the Ötztaler Ache river, between pine forests and lush meadows, and is just a stone's throw from the Aqua Dome thermal baths as well as a sports centre with an outdoor pool. Surrounded by the stunning Ötztal and Stubai Alps, it is the perfect base for hikes into the mountains, for example to the Piburger See lake or the Stuibenfall waterfall in Umhausen. There are also plenty of via ferrata fixed-rope climbing routes with steel handholds and footholds anchored into the rock for safety. During the winter months it is only a short drive to the ski resort of Sölden. There are also a number of toboggan runs within walking distance. The campsite was recently refurbished and offers modern showers and toilets as well as a small spa area with a sauna, infrared cabin and chillout room.

This campsite is in the Inn Valley, near the village of Weer. It is located next to a forest and a farm where visitors are invited to ride horses and ponies or enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride. The views of the surrounding Karwendel Mountains are fantastic. Activities at the campsite include a ten-metre-high climbing tower and an outdoor pool with a large sun lawn. Children will also enjoy the indoor and outdoor play areas, handicrafts room and football pitch. While kids have fun outside, parents can relax on the restaurant's terrace and plan the family's next day out, for example to the nearby city of Innsbruck.

This campsite in the Tannheimer Tal Valley, between the peaks of the Allgäu Alps, enjoys a peaceful location surrounded by meadows and forests. It is just a short walk from the Haldensee lake. Visitors can look forward to plenty of highlights in both summer and winter. The campsite is an excellent starting point for bike rides. E-bikes can be hired on site. Nearby attractions include the open-air swimming pool by Haldensee lake and the Bike Trail Tirol long-distance cycle adventure. In winter the Haldensee lake is used for skating if there is a sufficiently thick covering of ice. There is also a cross-country skiing trail with snowmaking facilities around the village of Grän. Wet-weather activities include an indoor pool and a sauna at the campsite.

Tirol Camp in the Pillerseetal Valley has plenty to offer guests of all ages. The site is spread over several stepped terraces and has its own spa including an indoor and outdoor pool as well as a naturally filtered outdoor pool next to the bottom of the Streuböden and Lärchfilzkogeel cable cars. These gondolas give access to the nearby Wildseeloder mountain. The campsite has its own mini-market, and there are other shops in the village. Highlights for children include a large play area with slides, a bouldering wall and a trampoline. Childcare services are available. For teenagers there is a Chill Bus with video games. Dogs are also welcome at Tirol Camp.

Located on the shores of the stunning Lake Achensee, undoubtedly one of Tirol’s most beautiful and magical places, the Alpen-Caravanpark Achensee was in 2013 a winner of the DCC European Award. It offers the most extensive facilities to be found at any campsite in Tirol, including a special bay for motorhomes. Activities include boating, fishing, sailing and surfing, horse-drawn carriage riding, hiking, and skiing, not to mention beach volleyball and curling. There is a large play area for children.

How many campsites do you know with their own mountain spring bubbling with healing waters? That is exactly what you will find at Aktiv-Camping in Prutz in the Upper Inn Valley –  the only campsite of its kind in Tirol. Water is a bit of a theme here, with the turquoise Inn river rushing past. This four-star campsite is open all year and is particularly popular among guests who enjoy outdoor activities. In summer there is rock climbing, beach volleyball and hiking, while in winter guests can explore the nearby ski resorts. Cyclists will be interested to know that the Via Claudia long-distance cycle path leads past the campsite.

Perched on a pretty hill overlooking the bustling Inn Valley, Camping & Appartment Seehof is a campsite on the eastern shore of the Reintaler See lake. Guests have exclusive access to a the lake, which is surrounded by mighty mountains. Family-friendly and open all year, the campsite has 130 pitches and, despite its peaceful location, is just a short drive from the  Inntalautobahn motorway and the village of Kramsach. Activities include climbing, hiking and cycling. Children will enjoy the play area, petting zoo and pony riding. There is a snack shop, take-away and restaurant on site.

Offering fine views of the Zillertal Valley mountains, Camping Mayrhofen is a campsite on the northern edge of Mayrhofen with 200 pitches on a gently sloping meadow plus a few on two gravel-covered plateaus. Some pitches have drinking water and waste water connections. Guests will appreciate the spa facilities, which include a sauna, steam room, chillout room and indoor and outdoor pool (heated in winter) plus a separate children's pool. On site you will find a small supermarket offering everything you need. Half-board can be booked at one of the nearby hotels. Families will be pleased to know that the campsite has a selection of washing machines, tumble dryers and private bathrooms.

Located in the lower reaches of the Pitztal Valley, at the foot of the mighty Hochzeiger mountain, this small but perfectly formed campsite enjoys a quiet setting with space for 37 mobile homes or motorhomes. The highlight of the site is a small natural pool with a wooden walkway, sun lawn and a small waterfall. The pool can be used for both fishing and swimming. There is also a skatepark for kids, a small petting zoo and an indoor and outdoor play area. Further activities include archery and beach volleyball. During the summer months guests can enjoy long hikes and mountain bike rides in the Alps. In winter there is good skiing on the Hochzeiger mountain. There is a restaurant on site for those who don't fancy cooking for themselves.

At the point where the Zillertal Valley and the Inn Valley meet, with the large Lake Achensee just a few kilometres away, Camping Inntal offers 70 pitches and can be reached quickly and easily from the Inntalautobahn motorway (take the exit "Wiesing") and is just 500 metres from the village centre. The motorway may be nearby, but thanks to excellent noise-reducing walls you will barely be able to hear it. The site also offers a number of apartments and huge but cosy refurbished barrels. Highlights include a heated outdoor pool and a sauna. There is also a kiosk snack shop, a restaurant, washing machines and tumble dryers. During the summer months there is a children's activity programme including horse riding and guided walks. In winter the campsite is close to the cross-country skiing trails and a small ski resort.

This small, friendly campsite is located in the village of Vorderhornbach in the Lechtal Valley, on the banks of the Hornbach stream, just a few hundred metres from the mighty Lech river. The site offers around 40 pitches with fine views of the alpine panorama which characterises this Nature Park Region. Accommodation is also available in the form of cosy huts and mobile homes. The highlight is the "Badino" adventure pool (open to the general public) with its water-themed play area plus a trampoine and a football pitch. Hearty snacks are available at the "Almwiesngaudi Bistro". Guests keen to explore the region can ride the Lechtal Cycle Path or walk the Lech Hiking Trail.

Located at the foot of Schloss Aschach, a mighty castle in the Inn Valley, this campsite offers accommodation fit for a prince. The site itself is perched just a little above the valley floor, overlooking Volders, and is just a short drive from the towns of Wattens and Hall in Tirol. The regional capital Innsbruck can also be reached quickly and easily by train or car. Most of the 160 pitches offer good views of the castle and the Karwendel Mountains on the opposite side of the valley. Highlights include a heated outdoor pool, a restaurant with a large terrace, wheelchair-accessible facilities, a play area and childcare (in July and August). There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding region, including the famous Swarovski Crystal Worlds, Tratzberg Castle and the large swimming pool in Wattens.

"SeenCamping" literally translates as "Lakes Camping", so it will come as no surprise that this campsite and apartment complex is surrounded by water. It is located in a quiet, sunny area above Kramsach in the Inn Valley, close to the Krummsee and on the shores of the Buchsee lake. It is also just a short walk to two further lakes: the Frauensee and the significantly larger Reintaler See. Outside the entrance to the campsite is an open-air pool on the shores of the Krummsee lake. The site has space for around 100 campers. Facilities include a small open-air pool (heated in winter) with a whirlpool, massage jets and a children's paddle pool (open in summer only). Last but certainly not least, there is a sauna and a masseur on hand to soothe aching muscles.

Outdoor enthusiasts will feel right at home at this campsite on the southern edge of Sölden. The site is located close to the rushing Ötztaler Ache river, a popular place for kayaking, and also just a stone's throw from the bottom of the Gaislachkogelbahn cable car, used in winter for skiing and hiking in summer. The campsite has its own indoor climbing wall. The pitches are a mix of gravel-covered terraces and tree-lined alleys. Total capacity is around 100 tents, mobile homes and motorhomes. Most sites offer fine views of the Ötztal Alps. The main building at the campsite has a couch corner, a table tennis table and a gym plus a spa with a sauna. Bicycles can also be hired on site.

This campsite in Zell am Ziller dates back to the late 19th century and has a proud tradition of having been run by the same family for over 100 years. In decades past, locals would come here to escape the summer heat and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Today the site has 100 pitches dotted between fruit trees. Don't forget to check out the Feng Shui Trail. There are also six flats designed according to the principles of feng shui. Double rooms and wooden bungalows are also available. Highlights include an outdoor pool. Your host, Frau Hofer, offers regular guided walks and hikes.

With the mighty Kitzbüheler Horn mountain towering above and the cool waters of the Schwarzsee lake below, Camping Schwarzsee enjoys a fine location. To the north lie the rolling hills of Bichlach, while to the south-east it is just a short walk into Kitzbühel. The nearest train station is just a few minutes away on foot. The campsite itself comprises a number of rolling pastures with a total of 180 pitches. It is run by the Biohotel Bruggerhof, which also offers rooms, suites and cosy mobile homes. Guests can also use the indoor swimming pool and large spa & gym area at the hotel. Outdoors there is a pit-pat course (a combination of minigolf and billiards) and a play area for children. Guests are welcome to use the restaurant in the hotel from breakfast to dinner.

Enjoying a quiet location on the edge of Söll, far from the busy main road,  Camping Franzlhof has 40 pitches offering fine views of the Wilden Kaiser and Hohe Salve mountains. There are also a number of apartments. The four-star amenities include a sauna garden with a steam room, a small pool, a minigolf course, a pit-pat course (a combination of minigolf and billiards), a play area with swings, a climbing frame, slides and a restaurant where guests can enjoy dairy products fresh from the Franzlhof farm. There are also three clay tennis courts. It is just a 15-minute walk from the campsite to the centre of the village.
