Self-catering huts are, as the name suggests, small huts in the mountains where you can look after yourself. The huts are often many years old and furnished in a traditional, rustic and simple way. Self-catering huts are generally characterised by simple basic equipment - crockery and cutlery are provided, as are pots and pans. Rustic self-catering huts often still have a traditional wood-burning stove for cooking over a fire. However, some also have an electric cooker for quickly heating water or food. Self-catering huts also differ in terms of their facilities depending on the concept: some are simply without electricity, while others offer a touch of luxury with a sauna or hot tub.
