Free parking at the Mutzkopfbahn valley station
When it gets dark in winter, some people are drawn indoors. The poorest of us miss out on the best things: the breathtaking view of the mountains at dusk, the almost eerie tranquillity of the forest and, of course, the good food that tastes twice as good after an evening hike.
The Mutzkopf chairlift takes you directly to the mountain station, where the easy winter hike begins. The circuit around the Kleinmutzkopf summit offers a fantastic view from above of the border triangle of Austria, Italy and Germany. The route takes you comfortably along a groomed forest path in hairpin bends to Nauders in the valley, where several refreshment stops invite you to warm up. Important: The lift only runs on Wednesdays in winter. Our tip: Thanks to the reflective night signs, the hike is also possible in the evening with a headlamp - the mountain world at dusk is a very special experience.
