Follow the Ötztaler Ache on a wide, slightly rising footpath to the junction towards Habichen. The newly created winter hiking trail leads up through the forest. At the next crossroad, turn right onto a meadow path and then right again onto the paved path towards Lake `Habichersee`. From the `Habichersee` you go back to the main path. Once there, turn left and follow Randweg on the wide path through the forest up to Kohlstatt, where you keep to the right and hike along the Elsingerweg back to Oetz.
