Winter hike Winter walking on the sunny Mieming Plateau

Mieming /
Difficulty ratings: easy
Route length: 9.0 km
Duration: 2:30 h

Don't want to choose and like to have the best of everything? Then the sunny plateau is definitely your thing: mossy meadows, pine forests, torrents, summit views - and the variety doesn't stop with the refreshment stops either.

Tour character

Start at the Lehnbach parking lot in Obermieming. Walk around the golf course in the direction of the Stöttlalm. With a view of the pond and down into the Inn Valley, you can take your first leisurely break there. The trail then continues westwards over the upper Stöttlalm bridge and the rushing Stöttlbach stream into the snow-covered pine forest. The trail leads to the extensive mossy meadows where cross-country skiers make their rounds in winter. Past old barns, the trail leads to the Moosalm (please note opening times!), where you can enjoy regional cuisine before heading back across meadows and through the forest to the starting point.

Description

This varied circular hike links the Stöttlalm mountain hut located above Golfpark Mieming with the Moosalm restaurant and guesthouse in Barwies. The gently climbing winter hiking trail leads from Lehnbach car park in Obermieming to the Stöttlalm mountain hut, where you can stop for short break. On sunny winter days, you can even enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the plateau and the Stubai Alps from the terrace.

From there, follow the winter hiking trail left, cross the Lehnbach stream and follow the forest road over the new Stöttlalmbrücke bridge towards the Moosalm mountain hut. After a long stretch through the forest, which also passes a children's playground, you reach the vast open landscapes of the Mooswiesen meadows. A groomed trail leads through the snow-covered meadows and past old barns before reaching the next place for a break, the Moosalm restaurant and guesthouse. As you walk, you can watch the cross-country skiers glide over the extensive network of cross-country ski trails.

The route back follows the same path through the forest to Obermieming. After leaving the woods, follow the forest road to the right towards Siedlung and back to the car park.
