The Mühlberg is an approx. 1000 m high mountain between the village centre and the mighty Loferer Steinberge. As you walk around it, you pass through this valley cutting, through forests and across meadows. The Schäferau Chapel tells an old story.
From the village centre (municipal office), start in the direction of Intersport Kienpointner. Walk straight ahead across the crossroads and along the road to the sharp left-hand bend (campsite). Turn right here into Schäferauweg. Follow the winter hiking trail. The Schäferau chapel lies along the path and a legend tells that a lost shepherd vowed to build a chapel in this meadow. The tour continues around the Mühlberg to the Schöttlweg, which leads to the Pillersee Landesstraße. Keep to the right and walk along the road to the Weißbach car park an back to the centre.
