By bus: free bus service from Ellmau / Kitzbühel / St. Johann i.T. / Lofer and within the PillerseeTal region. Stop St. Jakob i.H. elementary school. Free of charge with guest card.
A comfortable very sunny walk, which can be combined with an ascent with the chairlift and a visit to the Jakobskreuz!
From the center of the village (parish church), turn left until you reach Pension Elisabeth. Here turn right into the side path and walk down to the building and recycling yard. At the fork turn left (see signpost) via the hamlet of Reith past the Kitzspitz vacation hotel to the Buchensteinwand valley station of the Pillersee cable car. From there you can connect to St. Ulrich am Pillersee and Hochfilzen. Return via the same route.
TIP: an ascent with the chairlift is also possible for pedestrians. Visit the 30 m high, completely accessible Jakobskreuz on the Buchensteinwand (1.456m).
