This circular hike takes you from Weidach through the picturesque Leutasch Valley, past nine farm shops offering local specialties. The Leutasch Farm Shop Tour combines the pleasure of hiking with culinary highlights.
The Leutasch Farm Shop Tour starts in the Weidach district of Leutasch. If you’re arriving by public transport, the best stop to get off at is "Leutasch Weidach Zentrum", from where you can begin the tour. For those arriving by car, parking is available at P10 and P8, just after the bridge from the Weidach Zentrum.
You’ll want to start this culinary tour from farm to farm with an empty backpack that has plenty of space for all kinds of local treats. From Weidach, head along the main road towards the "Gasse" district. At the end of the main road, you’ll reach the restaurant Pizzeria Al Cavallino. Go right around the building (following the sign towards Mittenwald) and immediately left into the side street. At the end of the street, you'll find the family-run Pichler Bakery, known for its high-quality breads and baked goods—perfect for a picnic.
Stocked up with fresh bread (and for those who want, a sweet pastry for dessert), you head back from the Al Cavallino restaurant towards the main road. There, turn right (a few meters past the bus stop) onto the groomed path that runs parallel to the cross-country ski trail. The path continues to the Ganghofer Museum cultural center and leads directly back into the residential area behind the museum.
After stocking up on fresh bread (and perhaps a sweet treat), continue along the forest edge towards the Kirchplatzl district. The path takes you behind the Ganghofermuseum and leads back into the housing area. Here you’ll find the first farm, Lippenhof, where you can see free-range chickens and grazing cows. The self-service vending machine offers freshly cooled, untreated organic milk and, depending on availability, fresh eggs.
Next, follow the road to Sporthotel Xander, then turn right and continue down the side street until you reach the Kühtaierhof restaurant. Past the Kühtaierhof, the path continues to a playground, where you take a left. After a few hundred meters, you'll reach the Leutasch Farmers’ Shop (Bauernladen) on your left. This shop offers a variety of products from local Leutasch farmers and other Tirol producers, including sausages, cheeses, liqueurs, juices, and honey. Note that the shop is only open on Friday afternoons.
After visiting the Leutasch Farmers' Shop, the tour continues along the “Oberer Wiesenweg”, one of the most scenic walking paths in Leutasch valley. The leisurely path winds through larch forests and meadows toward the Plaik district and further on to the Klamm district. Once you arrive in the Klamm district, the small Muchhof farm shop is located just below parking lot P12. This lovely little shop (opening hours are posted on-site) sells handmade products such as pine pillows and goat milk soap, as well as fresh items like goat and cow milk. Depending on the season, you'll find products like fresh cheese, yogurt, herbal teas, potatoes, and more.
From Muchhof, continue down towards the Info Point in Klamm, then turn left towards Klamm 80b Butchery. The butcher shop is open on Friday and Saturday mornings, and there’s a self-service machine available 24/7 (another vending machine is located in Weidach 320). Here you can stock up on fresh beef, lamb, pork, various sausages, ham, and bacon—all sourced from animals raised by farmers in the region.
After visiting Klamm 80b Butchery, head back a bit and follow the road towards the bus stop "Klamm", crossing the bridge. At the two intersections after the bridge, keep left, then follow the side street past Bergidyll & Hotel Trofana until you reach the Adeg supermarket on the main road. Cross the road and follow signs to the next farm, Wirtseppelerhof. This bio-farm’s self-service shop is open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM and offers a variety of products from the farm’s own herb garden, as well as fresh dairy products, eggs, meat, and potatoes. The selection changes with the seasons.
The tour continues along the side street where Wirtseppelerhof is located and through the forest until you reach a junction with the main road. If you want to extend the tour, you can head right along the stream to visit the Zottlhof farm in the Moos district. Here, you can see Scottish Highland cattle ("Zottl") that are kept in open stalls in winter. The adjacent farm shop offers meat specialties like Kaminwurzen and house sausages, as well as natural products like vinegar, liqueurs, and syrups.
Note: Products are available by pre-order, and the shop is open by appointment only. During the winter, you can also book a tour to visit the Zottl (reservations required).
If you’ve extended the tour to the Zottlhof, return to the main road and cross it to continue along the path into the forest. Follow hiking trail number 3 (yellow signs towards "Leutasch-Oberweidach"). After about 30 minutes through the forest, you’ll reach an intersection where you turn left towards Thoamlhof (signs for the farm are posted). The Thoamlhof offers a wide variety of farm products such as beef, dairy, eggs, cheese, syrup, and more. The self-service farm shop is open 24/7.
From Thoamlhof, continue down towards the main road. After crossing the road, follow the path along the Leutasch Ache towards the Aue district. Cross the main road again, then turn right and follow the signs towards trail number 3, Weidachsee. After a short climb, you’ll reach a junction where you turn left to follow the path towards Weidachsee, where you can ice fish in winter. At the lake’s shore, you’ll find the Leutasch Fish Shop, which sells fresh and smoked fish. The self-service vending machine is open 24/7.
After a relaxing break by the lake, you can return to the starting point of the Leutasch Farm Shop Tour. From Weidachsee, turn right and either take the bus back from the "Weidach Quellenhof" or "Weidach Zentrum" bus stops, or continue walking through Weidach back to the parking lot behind the Weidach bridge.
Take the bus to Leutasch and get off at the "Leutasch Weidach Zentrum" bus stop.
