Description
Starting from the Waldrast parking lot, the well-maintained wide hiking trail leads eastwards up to Ehrenberg Castle World. After a steep ascent of about 30 minutes, passing through dense forest and rocky passages, you reach the Ehrenberg Klause.
The museum "On the Trail of the Knight," offering fascinating insights into the lives of knights, or the cozy Salzstadl inn with traditional Tyrolean cuisine, provide ideal spots for a first break.
Passing the valley station of the EhrenbergLiner, the final ascent towards the Ehrenberg Castle Ruin begins. This can also be shortened with the EhrenbergLiner inclined lift. Otherwise, you continue on the gravel path through the forest, passing by the entrance of highline179. Once at the top, you can visit the historical ruin and enjoy a breathtaking view over Reutte.
If you want to experience the "view with a thrill," you can cross the 406-meter-long and 110-meter-high highline179 - one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world. At dizzying heights, the bridge offers spectacular views of the valley and the surrounding mountains, providing an unforgettable experience. The same path then leads back down to the valley.
Note: From mid-November to the end of February, Ehrenberg Castle Ruin shines in a special glow in the evenings. Be enchanted by illuminated mythical creatures, historical light figures, and a colorful array of forest animals. These create a magical atmosphere during Lumagica Reutte in Ehrenberg Castle World with "Knight Rüdiger's Haunted Castle." More information: www.reutte.com/lumagicareutte
