Winter Walking

Winter walking in the Wildschönau

Snow-covered forests, gentle mountain scenery, subdued tranquillity: winter hiking in the Wildschönau is a wellness cure for the soul. There are cleared paths both in the valleys and at higher altitudes. And the most beautiful places can be discovered on a tour with a guide.

What do deer and roe deer do in winter? On the easy hike to the game reserve above the Foisching snack station in Niederau, young and old can observe the shy animals. For those who prefer to hike away from residential areas, the Schönangerrunde is the right choice, a valley hike at the foot of the Großer Beil (2,309 metres) with no significant inclines. Another lovely family tour is the circuit around the Thierbacher Kogel from Thierbach. There are no major differences in altitude to contend with here either, and yet there are always beautiful views of the snow-covered valley. In total, there are around 40 kilometres of cleared winter hiking trails in the Wildschönau.
