Challenging circuit with flowing trails and superb panoramic views from the Hohe Tauern to the Loferer Steinberge mountains
The elevation gain on the Horn-Südberge Loop requires serious effort. Start at the Hornbahn valley station, tackling the initial uphill on the classic Hornweg. This challenging ascent leads to Alpenhaus, where the rest of the trail offers pure enjoyment in the Kitzbühel trail paradise.
From Alpenhaus, head towards Lämmerbichl and Bichlalm, then continue south towards Hochwildalm and Gaisberg. Here, you'll encounter beautiful, flowy trails with stunning views from the Hohe Tauern to the Leoganger and Lofer Steinberge. Follow the signs to Hochwildalm. Before reaching Gebrajoch, veer slightly right towards the valley, briefly traversing a forest road before returning to a scenic woodland trail that leads to Hochwildalm. This is an excellent spot for a rest.
From Hochwildalm, proceed towards Aurach, passing through the wildlife park. From Aurach village center, ascend briefly, then alternate between trails and asphalt back to the Bichlalm lift valley station. Continue towards Hagstein, where a final ascent awaits before enjoying the last trail back to Hornbahn.
