Description

Starting at the Hahnenkamm valley station, head south along the base of the railway. Initially, an asphalt road takes you through the tranquil Malern district. From there, a challenging trail climbs towards Malern Alm, requiring careful pacing. At Malern Alm, enjoy a stunning view of the town and the Wilder Kaiser.

Follow the signs to Gschwandbaum, traversing alpine meadows and then a forest until you reach an impressive natural monument: a spruce tree with a diameter of 1.75 meters and a height of 42.2 meters. Return along the same trail until just past Malern Alm, then turn left towards Einsiedelei. From there, a fantastic downhill trail leads back to the valley. After passing under the railway, return to the starting point. This loop can be run both clockwise and counterclockwise.
