Toboggan runs suitable for children are characterised by a less steep gradient and fewer tight bends, i.e. they are technically easy to ride and can therefore also be mastered by children who want to go tobogganing on their own. If the starting point of the toboggan run cannot be reached with a lift anyway, then the ascent is relatively short - up to a maximum of 1 hour's walking time. There is usually a cosy place to stop for refreshments at the starting point, as a climb on foot makes you hungry. In the toboggan huts, you can not only warm up and fortify yourself, but also dry your wet clothes before heading down into the valley along the toboggan run.
Safety is the top priority: children should always be equipped with a helmet. Children who are not yet riding alone should always sit in front of their parent on the toboggan. Waterproof clothing and warm winter boots are also essential. However, as children prefer to roll horizontally through the snow, a change of clothes is always worthwhile. Children who are pulled upwards on the toboggan should always be well wrapped up and placed on an insulating cushion, as without movement the little ones will quickly become very cold. If there is no hut or mountain hut to stop at, you should always take a snack and warm tea with you.
