Description

The Blindsee is a picturesque mountain lake in Tyrol, located about 3 km southwest of Biberwier, at an elevation of 1,093 m. It was formed around 4,100 years ago by a massive landslide at the Fernpass.

The crystal-clear water invites swimming at calm bathing spots, with summer temperatures rising to a pleasant 24 °C. Divers appreciate the lake for its excellent visibility of up to 30 meters and the submerged tree trunks that have been lying on the bottom since an avalanche in 1984.

A circular trail approximately 4.7 km long runs directly along the lakeshore and offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains.

The lake is accessible via a toll private road from Biberwier that branches off from the Fernpassstraße (B179) and leads to a parking lot by the shore. It is privately owned by the MOHR life resort hotel. Infrastructure such as toilets, changing rooms, or dining facilities is not available at the lake, contributing to the quiet, natural atmosphere.

Stand-up paddling and diving require a permit or license.
