Description

As a World Cup resort, Sölden in Ötztal is one of the most famous winter sports resorts in the Alps. In addition to a wide range of pistes that will delight beginners and pros alike, Sölden also boasts a glacier ski area that reaches up to an altitude of 3,340 meters. The season starts there in September and doesn't end until May. What makes it special: It is the only ski area in Austria with access to three mountains that exceed the 3,000-meter mark. They are simply called the "Big 3". From the highest point, the 3,340-metre-high Schwarze Schneide, the longest run of 15 kilometers leads down into the valley.

Sölden is primarily known for its top events such as the glacier spectacle "Hannibal" or the Electric Mountain Festival, but also for its countless mountain restaurants and huts.

Numerous ski routes lead to the surrounding mountain peaks, including the Wildspitze, the highest mountain in North Tyrol. Fun parks, race tracks and mogul pistes attract sporty skiers. And while the steep descents start on the Rettenbach glacier, beginners and families enjoy the gentle and wide pistes on the Tiefenbach glacier, among others. Should the winter take a break, this does not detract from the skiing fun. Up to 77 percent of all slopes are covered with artificial snow.
