The "Buach" on Pillersee is not only a rewarding vantage point, but also a beautiful ski area.
Its clear layout and flat, sunny slopes make the network of pistes on the Buchensteinwand in Pillerseetal - known by locals simply as "Buach" - the ideal playground for families and beginners. However, experienced winter sports enthusiasts will also find plenty of fun in the snow here. In addition to a few red runs, the three kilometers of black marked pistes from the 1,456-meter-high Buchensteinwand down to Ortisei are quite challenging. The ski area is accessible from two sides: from St. Ulrich and St. Jakob in the north as well as from Hochfilzen in the south. Here and there, there are practice slopes for beginners and children in the valley, as well as a Bobo children's park in Ortisei. The higher altitudes around the huge accessible summit cross are more suitable for advanced skiers. There is also suitable terrain and a wonderful natural snow run for freeriders and ski tourers. Speed fanatics are strongly recommended to try the Speedtrap and the race track at the Kröpfl T-bar lift.
