The Patscherkofel is not only Innsbruck's local mountain, but also one with a skiing and Olympic tradition.
Slopes 1,400 meters high above Innsbruck, sweeping views over the Inn Valley, great skiing history: the Patscherkofel and its ski area are a true authority. The 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics were held on the slopes of the mighty mountain, as well as the youth version of this competition in 2012. For the people of Innsbruck and their guests, it's just a hop, skip and a jump to the ski area, whose manageable size is in no way at odds with its high adventure factor. The large snow park is a meeting point for Innsbruck's freestylers, Kofele's Kidnerland offers learning opportunities and fun for the little ones, and a popular ski route leads from the highest point of the ski area to the 2,248-metre-high mountain peak, where the view is truly captivating. If you can't make it all the way up here, you can still look forward to a long descent: the Olympic downhill run offers 7.5 kilometers of unadulterated skiing fun all the way to the valley station.
