Description

Even the way to the ski area is an experience. The Kaunertal Glacier Road takes you up 29 hairpin bends to the edge of the Weißseeferner at an altitude of 2,750 meters. Here you simply park your car at the end of the slopes and plunge straight into winter sports fun. The Kaunertal Glacier ski area may be remote, but it is one of the highest and most snow-sure in Austria. Skiing is possible from September to June at an altitude of up to 3,108 meters. On beginner slopes as well as red and black ones.

The wide glacier pistes can be enjoyed without having to queue for a long time at the lifts. The blue runs from the Falginjoch are popular with beginners, ambitious skiers can take on the FIS race course on the Nörderjoch and freestylers can let off steam in the snow park. A special feature is the 2.2-kilometre-long black piste on the Karlesspitze, which leads through a 140-metre-long floodlit ski tunnel to the Ochsenalm. The construction of the Falginjochbahn cable car has brought a superlative to the ski area: the Black Ibex. It starts at the mountain station and is the steepest groomed slope in Austria with an incline of 41.3 degrees and a gradient of 87.85%. The new Weißseejochbahn takes skiers up to an altitude of 3,044 meters and, with the mountain station right on the border with South Tyrol, allows border hopping at its finest. A large number of off-piste runs promise variety. Those who prefer ski touring will also enjoy the Kaunertal Glacier.

The offer is complemented by the small family ski area in Fendels further north, where there is a large children's and beginners' area, among other things. The lift pass is valid in both ski areas.
