Description

The popular and snow-sure Hochzillertal-Hochfügen ski area is located just a few minutes' drive from the Inntal valley in the front Zillertal. Access is possible directly from Kaltenbach or from the hotel village of Hochfügen at an altitude of around 1,500 meters. A large selection of blue, red and black pistes spans an area between 560 and almost 2,400 meters above sea level. The unprepared ski routes, which are popular with freeriders, reach even higher up to the peaks of the surrounding mountains.

In Hochzillertal-Hochfügen, both beginners and ski amateurs feel at home. Snowboarders and freestylers enjoy the spacious Betterpark, newcomers are delighted with the beginners' ski area, speed freaks break speed records on the race course, and those who want to hone their technique can emulate Olympic champion Stephan Eberharter on the slalom slope, whose parents run a hotel in the valley. There's also plenty on offer for families, such as the children's park with magic carpet, wave track and play tent, as well as the children's restaurant and all-day childcare.

If you get hungry between all the sweaty descents, you will find plenty of huts and mountain restaurants on the edge of the slopes, including the Wedelhütte with the highest rock-vaulted wine cellar in the Alps. Hochfügen is even home to the "Alexander", a 3-toque restaurant.
