Not too much and not too little: The Hochoetz ski area offers the best conditions for cozy days of skiing and first pizza slices.
With its manageable size, the Hochoetz ski area is the perfect place for a winter sports adventure with the whole family. The mostly red and blue pistes stretch along the north-facing slopes below the Acherkogel. The ski area lies at an altitude of 1,400 to almost 2,300 meters and is accessible by cable car from two sides: From Oetz in Ötztal and from the village of Ochsengarten, which is located at 1,500 meters above sea level on the pass road to Kühtaisattel.
For children, their career on the slopes begins with mascot Widi, who teaches them the basics of skiing. This is done in Widi's Kinderland, which is run by the local ski schools. For the slightly older ones, there is a fun park below the Balbach chairlift. More experienced skiers will enjoy the more challenging slopes, such as the long downhill run to Ochsengarten, the permanent race course with timekeeping and the ski routes through fresh deep snow.
There are several huts, a children's restaurant and the SB panorama restaurant with sun terrace and playground at the Acherkogelbahn mountain station for a refreshment stop. If you take the Wetterkreuzbahn, you should not miss a detour to the "Zugspitzblick" viewing platform at the top. It offers a wonderful view of Germany's highest mountain.
