Some say that après-ski was invented in St. Anton am Arlberg. Whether this is true or not, the town with its international flair is now one of the most important destinations for party-loving winter sports enthusiasts in the Alps. The lively parties at the "Mooserwirt" on the valley run are legendary. Also famous: the "Krazy Kanguruh" by ex-ski racer Mario Matt. Further down, in the pedestrian zone, there is the stylish "Anton Bar", the more informal "Alibi" and various other bars and clubs.
Many a winter sports enthusiast has met famous actors or sports stars at the bar in Ischgl. The village in Paznaun is considered one of the hippest lifestyle capitals in Tyrol, especially during the ski season. Ischgl has plenty of nightlife to offer, especially in the Dorfstraße, where one bar follows the next. Exclusive bars such as the "Champagner-Club" and the "Madlein-VIP-Club" and the "Paznauner Taja" mountain hut in the middle of the ski area are well-known. Three times a season, top international musicians also take to the stage in the Silvretta Arena - at the legendary Top of the Mountain concerts.
The long village street in Sölden is lined with inns, bars and nightclubs. The internationally renowned ski resort in Ötztal is one of the hottest destinations for après-ski fans. Those who want to pop the corks after a day on the slopes have plenty of choice. Party into the early hours of the morning in the "Fire & Ice" club or in the "Almrausch". A little further on is the "Bierhimmel", which is particularly popular with young people and is known not only for its barley juice but also for its live music. And of course there is also partying during the day in the huts further up, for example in the "Panorama-Alm" or the "Gampe-Alm".
The town, known for its top-class sporting events, is a popular meeting place for many celebrities from show business. The world-famous Hahnenkamm race in January is the main reason why people party until they drop. But there is also plenty going on in winter, for example in the umbrella bars directly on the slopes. The "Schneebar Oberkaser" and the "Maierl-Alm" on the Kirchberg side, where a DJ plays at lunchtime on weekends under the title "Café del Maierl", have proven their worth. After their last descent, many skiers meet up in the "Hahnenkamm Pavilion". In Kitzbühel's town center, people meet up in legendary bars such as "The Londoner" or in the "Take Five" club, where people dance until the early hours of the morning.
In the Hochzillertal-Hochfügen ski area, you don't have to look far to find places with an exuberant après-ski atmosphere. The "Kristallhütte" and the "Wedelhütte", both located in the middle of the ski area, are known far beyond the borders of the Zillertal. Things are usually quieter here, with chill-out sounds from the DJ booth, classical music and a range of drinks and culinary delights of the highest standard. The "Holzalm" in Hochfügen is more rustic and delights its guests with traditional Zillertal folk music. The "Postalm" in Kaltenbach near the cable car is more committed to the pop genre. The party here is big, loud and lasts late into the night.
When it comes to partying, Mayrhofen is the absolute number 1 in the Zillertal. And the range is huge: Caribbean flair in the "Cohibar", stylish conviviality in the ice igloos of the "White Lounge" on the Ahorn or classic après-ski in the "Yeti Bar" at the Horberg valley station, in the "Brückenstadl", in the "Ice Bar" or in the "Hiatamadl" at the Penkenbahn valley station. Live music is often offered in the "Brückenstadl", booming club sounds in the "Arena". The party heart of the Zillertal pulsates particularly strongly every year in spring at the Snowbombing music festival, which is particularly popular with British ski guests.
If you travel to the Innsbruck area for winter sports, you are spoiled for choice in the evening. Because the classic après-ski on the slopes merges directly into the urban nightlife of the city. Probably the most unusual establishment, the "Cloud 9", is located high above the city on the Seegrube (1,905 meters). Extravagant parties are held in the igloo bar every Friday until late in the evening. And if that's not enough, you can simply head to the city's trendy bars and clubs, such as "Jimmys", "Kater Noster" or "Wohnzimmer". But please do so in civilian clothes, without a ski outfit.
