The first challenging stage awaits us today and requires a decision right at the start: Normal route or alternative? Weather, ability and condition will decide. Regardless of this, everyone is rewarded with spectacular views of the mountains of the Venediger group. And then there is the Neue Sa-jahütte - the castle in the mountains - our destination for today.
Difficult tour on black mountain paths. Sure-footedness and alpine knowledge are essential for the route in high alpine terrain. Partly steep ascents and descents in high alpine terrain. Depending on the route, challenging rocky paths (secured with steel cables) on the descent. A very good level of fitness is required.
The normal route over the Sajatscharte had to be abandoned years ago because of the danger of falling rocks. In the meantime there is a new connecting path (black mountain path!) which is signposted as the "Kreuzspitz-Höhenweg" and leads over the "Schernesscharte", which runs along the ridge below the Kreuzspitze. The Kreuzspitze (3,155m) can be reached from there in ½ hour. As a reward for the ascent, a magnificent view of the highest mountains of the Venediger Group awaits. The descent to the Neue Sajathütte then leads over a "rocky path" secured with steel ropes. (demanding!)
