Description

The second stage starts at the Zedlach car park. Following trail no. 42, you will reach a fork after a while. From there, follow the signpost in the direction of Obersonnberg. The hiking trail, which leads through a magical larch and spruce forest, takes you to the road to the Lahntaleralm. Once you arrive at the Rabenstein ruins, you have a wonderful view of the village of Virgen and the summit of the dominant ‘Ochsenbug’, formerly the ‘Kristallkopf’. The route now continues at a leisurely pace along the beautifully laid out Rabensteinweg trail. Eventually you reach the Gottschaunalm, which is adorned with magnificent flowers. Blooming mountain meadows await you on the descent via the Schmidleralm and to the Nilljochhütte.
