The Straubinger Haus is located on an alpine meadow below the Fellhorn in the Chiemgau Alps and can be reached on foot from Erpfendorf or from the Steinplatte car park in 3.5 or 2 hours. The hut is also accessible by mountain bike and can be ideally combined with an ascent to the Fellhorn.
Several Alpine Club huts open in the Kitzbühel Alps from mid-May, including the Wildseeloderhaus, which is ideal for a tour to the Wildsee lake or as a base for a two-day tour. An insider tip is the Hochwildalm at the foot of Gebra, Bischof and Sonnspitze.
While the Wilder Kaiser is still struggling with the remaining snow, a hut tour lasting several days can already be planned on the Zahmer Kaiser. With stops at the Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte, the Anton-Karg-Haus or the Hans Berger Haus as well as the Stripsenjochhaus, you can explore the particularly scenic Kaiser Valley. The huts on the Wilder Kaiser also open during these days.
In the Rofan mountains, three Alpine Club huts open their doors early, including the Bayreuther Hütte, the Erfurter Hütte and the Gufferthütte, which offer ideal starting points for hikes such as to Lake Zireiner See, the Halslspitze or for mountain bike tours. The Buchacker Alm on the Adlerweg also invites you to visit in early summer with its sunny location and proximity to the Hundsalmjoch.
In early summer, the Karwendel mountains offer impressive contrasts with flowering mountain meadows and steep rocky peaks, while the first Alpine Club huts above the Inntal valley can already be reached without snow thanks to their south-facing slopes. These huts are ideal places to stop for refreshments and overnight accommodation on mountain tours.
In the Tux and Zillertal Alps, some huts have opened early, including the Olperer Hütte and the Patscherkofelhaus, which are ideal for day trips. However, patience and good preparation are still required for high alpine tours such as the Berliner or Inntaler Höhenweg due to residual snow.
The Coburger Hütte impresses with its location between Seebensee and Drachensee with views of the Zugspitze and the Mieminger Kette. It can be reached either by mountain bike through the Gaistal valley or with the Ehrwalder Alm cable car and a hike - a special destination for early summer tours.
The Tannheim mountains offer a variety of tours in early summer, for example to the Bad Kissinger Hütte near the Aggenstein or to the Otto-Mayr-Hütte amidst the rocky world of Roter Flüh and Köllenspitze. The Three Lakes Hike with a stop at the Landsberger Hütte is also a worthwhile option.
The Lechtaler Höhenweg is only fully accessible later in the year, but from the end of May a tour to the Muttekopfhütte offers a first insight into the impressive landscape of the Lechtal Alps.
With their impressive glaciers and mighty peaks, the Ötztal Alps offer ideal conditions for high alpine tours. Huts such as the Hohenzollernhaus, the Braunschweiger Hütte and the Taschachhaus serve as starting points for hikes, challenging mountain tours and glacier adventures.
The Hochsteinhütte above Lienz opens in May and is ideal for hikes or mountain bike tours, for example to the Böse Weible. From June, the Sillianer Hütte at the western end of the Karnischer Höhenweg at just under 2,500 metres with views of the Lienz Dolomites and Hohe Tauern invites you.
