The Alpine Club huts in the Stubai Alps are ideal starting points for hikes and mountain tours in the impressive high mountains. Huts such as the Starkenburger Hütte at 2,237 metres offer breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, while the Innsbrucker Hütte is located below the striking Habicht summit and is a popular base for challenging tours.
Almost all huts in the Ötztal Alps close by the end of September at the latest due to their high altitude. One exception is the Langtalereckhütte, where you can still explore the Gurgler Valley, which is characterised by huge glaciers, at the beginning of October.

In the far west of Tyrol lies a historic Alpine Club mountain hut: the Jamtalhütte, affectionately known as the "Jam". It is now open until October. Situated at the end of the Jamtal valley, at the foot of the impressive Silvretta three-thousand metre peaks, the hut is easily accessible on foot on a hike or by (e-)mountain bike.
If you want to go really high on a hut tour in autumn, you should take a trip to East Tyrol. Through the Kalsertal valley, you can reach the Stüdlhütte, which lies at 2,801 metres above sea level at the foot of the Großglockner and is worth a visit for more than just architectural reasons. The next day, you can also plan a tour to the Kalser Tauernhaus, where you can stop for refreshments beneath the mighty glaciers of the Glockner group.
