Description

Traditional hut with excellent food in the Winkeltal Valley
Austrian Alpine Club partner hut

The Volkzeiner Hütte is as legendary as its owner, Toni, who has run things here in the mountains for more than 30 years. This traditional hut, formerly known as the Sillianer Hütte, enjoys a wonderful location surrounded by meadows, forests and craggy rocks at the end of the Winkeltal Valley, a side valley branching off the idyllic Villgratental Valley. There are plenty of great walks and hikes leading to pastures, waterfalls and mountain lakes. A number of the mountains can be climbed, including the Degenhorn and the Hochalmspitze. In the cosy wood-panelled dining rooms Toni serves hearty fare, including game and spare ribs. There are also several vegetarian options on the menu. The hut, which sleeps 30 people, is open from June until October.
