Rubbing shoulders with the glaciers: Taschachhaus in the Pitztal Valley is nestled between the Taschachferner and Sexegertenferner glaciers. The first hut was built back in 1873/74, making it the German Alpine Club’s third ever mountain refuge hut. The main house was last renovated between 2005 and 2008, during which it doubled in size and seminar facilities were added. Since then, the Taschachhaus is not only an important stage on high alpine and ice tours but also a German Alpine Club training base. The cosy rooms and delicious meals are highly praised by the guests. Freshly prepared food is served, even fresh salads. The hut sleeps 100 guests. Climbing equipment can be hired from the hut.

How to get to the Taschachhaus

From Mittelberg (car park by the cable car) via Taschachalm in 2.75 hours, from Mandarfen using the Riffelseebahn cable car, then via Fuldaer Höhenweg trail and Taschachtal Valley to the hut in 3.5 hours, from top of the Pitz-Panoramabahn cable car via the Taschachferner glacier in 3 hours (glacier crossing, experts only)
