Description

Popular daytrip destination in the Fotschertal Valley
German Alpine Club, Dinkelsbühl Division

Well placed for hiking and ski touring, the Potsdamer Hütte lies above the rushing Fotscher Bach stream at the foot of the Roter Kogel mountain. The Fotschertal Valley – a side valley branching off the Sellraintal Valley – is a popular destination for hikers because of its outstanding natural beauty. The Potsdamer Hütte is one of the largest and one of the most important huts in the valley. It is no wonder, as you will find great food and amenities there. In addition to spacious sleeping quarters, it is also equipped with a communal lounge suitable for seminars. The Potsdamer Hütte proprietors also have a big heart for children: the hut has been awarded with the German Alpine Club's “Family-Friendly Hut” status. There is also a rock climbing area not far from the hut. Following a fire in 2017, the hut was renovated and modernised. It now has its own small hydroelectric power plant.
