Description

Small mountain refuge with superb cuisine
Austrian Alpine Club, Innsbruck Division

This pretty little mountain hut can be found in the southern Karwendel Mountains, high up at the end of Samertal Valley, surrounded by majestic mountains. It is a popular destination for hikers, because everyone knows just how good the food is. Traditional dishes such as “Kaiserschmarren” (sweet, chopped pancake) taste twice as good when savoured in the original ambience of the wood-panelled dining lounges dating back to the hut’s founding years of 1925/1926. The pleasant dormitory sleeping arrangements make the hut a good base for several days here at the foot of the Sonntagkar mountain, with plenty of walks and hikes in the surrounding area. The Pfeishütte is also a popular destination for mountain bikers. The quickest way to reach the hut is by taking the cable car to the Hafelekar and then walking along the Goetheweg trail.

How to get to the Pfeishütte

From Scharnitz through the Gleirsch and Samertal Valleys, easy (5 hours), also suitable for mountain bikes. From the Halltal Valley via Herrenhäuser and Stempeljoch, intermediate (3 hours).
