With its iconic "bald" summit, the Patscherkofel mountain is Innsbruck's local mountain famous for its impressive skiing history. It has twice hosted the Winter Olympics as well as the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2012. Its excellent infrastructure for skiing and other mountain sports enthusiasts includes the Patscherkofelbahn cable car and the Patscherkofelhaus, which is open all year round. It is also suitable as a base for multi-day trips as well as a welcoming place to stop for a drink and meal whilst in the mountains south of Innsbruck. The hut restaurants offers excellent food, the rooms are roomy and comfortable, the terrace is spacious and the views are amazing. Well-known surrounding mountain: Glungezer, which is connected to the Patscherkofel by the Zirbenweg (Stone Pine Trail), a beautiful trail that is well worth walking.

From Igls in 3 hours, from Patsch in 2.5 hours, alternatively using the Patscherkofelbahn cable car
