Description

A friendly favourite at the foot of the Acherkogel mountain
German Alpine Club, Bielefeld Division

"This hut should be a favourite spot, free from the pressures of everyday life, a place of rest and peace for happy hikers," are the words of one of the founding members of the original Bielefelder Hütte. The hut, however, experienced hard times between 1913 and 1951, with storm damage, two wars and an avalanche, so a better position was chosen nearby for the "Neue Bielefelder Hütte" to be built. When Hochoetz was turned into a ski resort, the hut commenced winter operations and is now a popular destination for both hungry hikers and skiers alike. Baked potatoes, traditional “Schlutzkrapfen” and other hearty dishes such as “Kaiserschmarren” (chopped pancakes) and sweet strudels are all on the menu. The bedrooms are comfortable, there is always good company on the large sun terrace where you can have a chat or enjoy the music which is often played. Well known surrounding mountains: Acherkogel, Hochreichkopf, Feiler, Wetterkreuz.
