Description

Mountain and hut adventure at the „Silent Tuxern“
Austrian Alpine Association Hut, Section Hall in Tirol

Wattener Lizum with its alpine rose strewn slopes offers many opportunities for round walks and tours of the peaks. The Lizumer Hut is a popular place to take a break or stay overnight. It was built in 1912 by Hall Alpine Association as a base for ski tours; is open in both summer and winter and impresses visitors with its comfortable amenities: four guest lounges, comfortable bedrooms and dormitory, hut library, indoor and outdoor climbing walls. Visitors will also find a seminar room with technical facilities, as the hut is often used for alpine courses. Furthermore, it is an important base for long distance hiking trails, including the 02A variant of the Zentralalpenweg (Central Alpine Trail), Via Alpina and the „Traumpfad München-Venedig“ (Munich-Venice Dream Trail).

Well known surrounding mountains: Lizumer Reckner, Geier, Lizumer Sonnenspitze, Tarntaler Köpfe, Torwand, Torspitze.

Ascent to the Lizumer Hut

From the car park at Lager Walchen, take either the military road on the western side of the valley or the Zirbenweg (Stone Pine Trail) on the opposite side of the valley (ca. 2 hours). It is not permitted to use mountain bikes on the military road.
