Description

Cosy self-catering hut in the Allgäu Alps
German Alpine Club, Allgäu-Immenstadt Division

The Kaufbeurer Haus enjoys a majestic location overlooking the craggy peaks of the northern section of the Hornbach Massif. It is an excellent base for walkers and climbers looking for a challenge. Most of the mountains around the hut, which was built in 1905, require good climbing skills. The only easy hike is to the Bretterspitze. The hut itself is self-catering with a complete kitchen. Visitors must bring any food themselves. There is running water in front of the hut where guests can wash. Between Whitsun and early October the hut offers basic food and drink at weekends. During the week the hut is kept locked (key available from the Alpine Club).
