The Kasseler Hütte (2,177 metres) is a popular German Alpine Club mountain refuge at the head of the Stilluptal Valley in the Zillertal Alps, Tirol.
Pleasant mountain refuge hut in the Stilluptal Valley
German Alpine Club, Kassel Division
Please do not confuse this with the other Kasseler Hütte in Tauferer Ahrntal, which was also constructed by the German Alpine Club, Kassel Division. Here we are talking about the Kasseler Hütte in the Zillertal Valley, at the head of the Stilluptal Valley. It was inaugurated in 1927, but has been subject to much expansion and modernisation since. The hut has received the Environmental Seal of Approval and is very well-equipped, including a large terrace and cosy bedrooms. It is possible to cross the Zillertal Alps from the Kasseler Hütte. Be that as it may, it is also a rewarding daytrip destination. A rock climbing area in all levels of difficulty can be found close to the hut, which was created by the famous Zillertal Valley mountaineer, Peter Habeler.
