Alpine Association huts Friedrichshafener Hütte

Galtür

Trout swim in the pond, dumplings in the pot. The landlord has swapped his Gault Millau toque for a cap, but the quality at the "Häfler" is still top class.

We recommend because

Over moderate serpentines to fragrant alpine flower meadows: The Friedrichshafener or Häfler Hütte is located on the Muttenalpe in the rear Paznaun valley. From the hut parking lot in front of Galtür, easily accessible paths and trails lead through scenic forests and alpine pastures to the hut. The ascent from Galtür, Ischgl or Mathon takes around 2.30 to 3 hours. Despite the appetizing hut dishes, it's worth looking beyond the horizon: you can enjoy the top cuisine with a view of the Verwall peaks and the 3,000-metre peaks of the Silvretta group.

Description

Passing alpine flower meadows and a babbling torrent, the trail sets the mood for the charming alpine surroundings of the Friedrichshafener Hütte. The remote Muttenalpe in the rear Paznaun valley offers a fantastic mountain panorama: the peaks of the Verwall group on the one hand and the 3000-metre peaks of the eastern Silvretta group on the other. The traditional hut above Ischgl and Galtür is open from the end of June to the beginning of October and is known for its excellent cuisine. It offers 48 places in room and mattress dormitories and is suitable for families. In winter, an unheated room is available for ten hikers. Built in 1908, the Friedrichshafen section acquired the hut in 1922 and extensively renovated and extended it. Further extensions were carried out in 1964 and 1987/88.
