The Dortmunder Hütte (1,950 metres) is a traditional mountain refuge near the Kühtaisattel ridge in the Stubai Alps, Tirol.
Traditional mountain refuge hut surrounded by alpine roses

Hut? This is actually more like a house. Moreover, it's also close to a road; the Hochgebirgsstraße (high mountain road) which leads over the Kühtaisattel ridge, passing through alpine terrain and fields of alpine roses en route. It is a beautiful sight when they are in bloom and the slopes are turned into a sea of crimson. Kühtai attracts sporty people all year round, which is why the Dortmunder Hütte is open in both summer and winter. The altitude bonus boosts the beneficial effects of hiking, walking, mountaineering, skiing, cross-country skiing and ski touring. Facilities are comfortable and the food is hearty. The Dortmunder Hütte, which was most recently enlargened in spring 2020, is located in a “Kogelgebiet”, an area of round, wooded mountain peaks.
Take the road from Innsbruck via Kematen and through the Sellraintal Valley (45 minutes) or from Oetz to Kühtai (25 minutes). Public transport is available for both routes.
