The Bettelwurfhütte is a mountain hut in the Gleirsch-Halltal Massif. It was originally constructed between 1891 and 1893 and was placed on display at the regional expo in Innsbruck before being transported to its current home high in the mountains in 1894. Its majestic position on the southern slopes of the Großer Bettelwurf mountain has given it the nickname "The Eagle's Nest of the Karwendel Mountains". It is a popular base for ski touring in the southern Karwendel Mountains in winter as well as for hiking in summer. There are also a number of "via ferrata" in the area, fixed-rope climbing routes with metal handholds and footholds. The hut, which is open from June until October, serves hearty local food. In winter there is a small room with heating and cooking facilities.

How to get to the Bettelwurf Hütte

From Absam-Eichat through the Halltal Valley (4.5 hours, parking opportunities at the entrance to the Halltal Valley or shuttle bus); from Gasthaus St. Magdalena in Halltal Valley (3. 5 hours) or along the Innsbruck High Trail, starting from the top station of the Hafelekar cable car (4. 5 hours).
