There could not be a more beautiful location for a mountain refuge hut! With fabulous views and abundant sunshine, the Bayreuther Hütte could also be described as an alpine hub and is a “lofty” meeting point at the intersection between the Inn Valley, Alpbachtal Valley and Zillertal Valley. Originally built by the mountain-loving Lentsch family from Hall in Tirol in 1908 for private use, it was acquired by the Bayreuth Division of the German Alpine Club in 1926. Committed mountain hut proprietors have ensured that this popular and family friendly overnight accommodation has been kept in great condition and have extended it over the years. After a hike through the beautiful Rofan Mountains – for example, past the idyllic Zireiner See lake – it is wonderful to sit on the sun terrace, savour the fabulous mountain views and replenish flagging energy levels with a great meal. Well-known surrounding mountains: Berger Kopf, Vorderes Sonnwendjoch, Sagzahn, Rofanspitze, Roßkogel, Heidachstellwand.

How to get to the Bayreuther Hütte

Hike: From Kramsach (3 hours) or Münster (Höllenstein) via the Steinapfelsteig trail (2.5  hours). 
Bike: For mountain bikers we recommend the forest trail from Münster (Grünsbach).
