Emergency bivouac on the Aschaffenburg and Berlin High Trail

Hikers taking on the long and challenging "Siebenschneidensteig" trail – a section of the Berlin and Aschaffenburg High Trail – who find themselves surprised by bad weather or encounter any other emergency will be relieved to reach the Aschaffenburg Bivouac. This emergency shelter is located on the Weißkarjöchl ridge in the Zillertal Alps, around half way between the Karl-von-Edel-Hütte hut and the Kasseler Hütte hut. It is very small in size with space for just four beds plus a table, a wood-burning oven (please bring a lighter) and a solar-powered light. There is no cooking area. It is not possible to return directly into the valley from the bivouac, and there is no mobile phone reception. The shelter is only open from the middle of July until the middle of October. Please be aware that it is not suitable for children or dogs.

From the top of the Ahornbahn cable car (Mayrhofen): 6.25 hours, from the Grüne-Wand-Hütte (Stillupgrund): 3.5 hours
