This hut in the idyllic Kaisertal Valley can be easily reached from the nearby town of Kufstein, yet it seems a world away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Here, between the craggy rock faces of the Zahmer and Wilder Kaiser Mountains, guests can look forward to a warm welcome in majestic surroundings. The Anton-Karg-Haus used to be called Hinterbärenbad, a reference to the fact that centuries ago it was said that brown bears living in the woods here would come down to the nearby stream to cool off. When the hut was first built at the end of the 19th century it was used by wealthy residents of Kufstein to escape the heat of the valley and cool off in the mountain air during the summer months. Today the Anton-Karg-Haus has the same large rooms, some of which have their own balcony. The hut is well-known for its hearty food. Children will love the large play area including a treehouse and even a few friendly donkeys. Wet-weather activities include an indoor bouldering room suitable for all the family.

From Kufstein-Sparchen ("Kaiseraufstieg" trail) through the Kaisertal Valley: 2.5 hours
