Description

The two Schober peaks rise gracefully behind the Ramsgrubnersee, a crystal-clear mountain lake. In summer it invites you to cool off, but only very few swimmers dare to enter the icy cold water. The round tour in the Wildlahnertal also leads past the Steinernen Lamm, a rock that looks like a sitting lamb. All paths are well marked, except for the climb to the Kleegrubenscharte, but this is easily visible even without markings. Only at the beginning and end do you cross a piece of forest, then you soon reach beautiful mountain slopes above the forest boundary and in parts you hike over stony, gravelly terrain.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION
From the car park at the beginning of the Wildlahnertal, trail no. 72 starts on the left side of the valley (yellow sign "Ramsgrubnersee") and leads eastwards across alpine meadows and further up through a section of forest. Above the forest, the trail leads across the meadows of the southern slopes towards a hermitage, where you follow the trail southwards over a ridge to the basin of the Ramsgrubnersee lake. There, the crystal-clear lake invites you to take a short break. To the left, a poorly visible path leads over scree and stone slabs to a ridge between the two Schober peaks. To the right of the ridge, the summit with cross is only a few steps away.
From the summit cross of the western Schoberspitzen (2,602m), descend again to the ridge and walk southwards on a clearly visible trail over gravel travel and the southern slopes of the western Schoberspitze to the Kleegrubenscharte. From there, trail no. 527 leads to the counter-ascension to the Steinerne Lamm. Continue on the trail to the south in the direction of the Geraer Hütte. At a crossroads, follow the sign "Steinernes Lamm Nr. 525". From the Steinernes Lamm (a rock in the shape of a lamb) at 2,528m you have a wonderful view of the Valser and Schmirn valleys. The descent is via serpentines back to the Wildlahnertal valley and via the forest road out to the car park at the starting point.

TIP FROM THE AUTHOR
The hike to the Ramsgrubnersee lake is also easy to do with children from the age of 10. There is a place to stop for refreshments in Toldern, where you will find the Gasthof Olpererblick.
